The Stars Over Mestea

NPCs from session 1

Lord Iphios, Protector of Klymeus

Lord Iphios is a minor Mestean noble who is responsible for the security of the city of Klymeus (but not the port or the government buildings which are under separate authorities). Iphios has no skill at astrology or at any other sort of magic, but his family has a long history of connections to the Royal Observatory and is engaged in the export of timber and furs. Iphios is about 50, stout, and fond of the easy life he has as Protector of Klymeus. He has a son, Socos, whom Iphios describes as a drunkard.

Cleon

Cleon and Pello are the two guardsmen who found the tomb of Eleus the Elder broken into and the bones of Eleus missing. Cleon is a gangly and nervous young man who only recently came to Klymeus from a farming community a bit inland from the capital city. Cleon’s mother is from a family with loose ties to the Royal Observatory and those connections got him into the City Guard. Cleon lives in the barracks with other younger members of the City Guard.

Pello

Pello is the senior member of the pair. He is shorter than Cleon, muscular, and has the look of an experienced street cop. Pello has a family and lives in an apartment with his wife and two sons. He has been in the City Guard for twenty years.

Eleus the Tenth

Eleus the Tenth is a cranky old man who has dedicated his older years to preserving the memory of his ancestors. Eleus never married, has no children of his own, and has no living close relatives. Dissolute ancestors have frittered much of the family fortune away, but Eleus has had some success in the emerging amber trade. He maintains the crumbling family home, not far from the Royal Observatory. Eleus arrived at the cemetery after being informed by his manservant Elestos that a mysterious stranger had brought word that his ancestor's tomb had been raided.

Lord Myndas

Lord Myndas is the Minister of Foreign Affairs at the court. About two weeks, one of his esteemed ancestors was removed from his tomb. Xeneus, a baker employed by Lord Myndas, was informed of the incident by a stranger who matches the description provided by Elestos. The stranger is described as short, stocky, and bowlegged with a bulbous nose pushed to one side of his face.

Uncas

Uncas is the best known loanshark in the city of Klymeos. He has indicated to Cyrus that he could broker a deal between Cyrus and someone with an interest in the activities of the City Guard.

Agarato

Agarato is a scholar at the Royal Academy and an acquaintance of Cyrus. Agarato may know something about the bones that have been stolen but he is afraid to say much about it.

Lord Demios

Lord Demios is the Protector of the Port in Klymeus. He is a political rival of Lord Iphios and has a large brood of children for whom he is constantly seeking political appointments.

NPCs from session 2

Leus

As described by Elestos and Xeneus, Leus is a profoundly ugly man: short, bowlegged, stocky, and with a bulbous nose pushed to one side of his face. He claims to have an extensive network of contacts throughout the city extending even to the palace, and he is obviously well known among the patrons of waterfront tavern The Far Traveller.

Sister Diraea

Sister Diraea is one of the sisters that runs the Temple of Poseidon on Dock Street. This temple is small and primarily functions as a mission for sailors. The sanctuary does double-duty as a dining area in the evening and prayer services are held every evening to keep sailors away from the temptations of the waterfront. The temple provides sleeping quarters on the second floor. There are a few private rooms for guests who require them and a large common sleeping area where most guests stay. The sisters who manage the temple have rooms on the third floor.

Iara

Iara is a barmaid at The Dancing Fish, an inn on the waterfront. She has some kind of a relationship with Gorgos and is obviously something of a flirt.

Xanton

Leus told the group that Xanton sometimes pays him to do things such as notify Lords that a tomb of one of their ancestors was broken into. Xanton was beaten up by Gorgos and Cyrus and taken to the Temple of Poseidon where he is under the care of Sister Diraea.

NPCs from session 3

Hector

Hector is a short, pale man whose nose is covered with gin blossoms. He saw the two creatures that killed Xanton as they were fleeing the temple, and he described them as slim, black as pitch, with white hair, and the look of one who can cast the evil eye. Hector was not worried too worried about the evil eye because he is convinced that he was already cursed by a Naga. Perhaps the two curses will counteract each other.
